Nov 7 2016 - Home to Palo Duro Canyon

Long drive today - nearly 400 miles and 6 hours.
Its raining at home when we start but better weather is ahead.
To break up the journey we had planned to stop at Charles Goodnight historical center but its closed on Mondays -so all you get is a photo of the outside.  Exciting don't you think?

Arrived at the park about 4-30.  No one at the entrance station due to a medical emergency.  Big notice stating "trails closed"  Not a good start.  Abit further down the road is the store - nice lady in there toldus the trails would all be open tomorrow - they had 2 inches ofrain yesterday but they dry fast.  Thats better!

The view from the store..

We head down into the canyon and explore several camping loops before deciding to stay at the Mesquite area.  The sun sets about 5-30 here so its time to get the fire going. Coyotes are howling in the distance as we settle in for the night.

Clean bikes ready for action
