Sep 14 2017 - Hagerman,ID to McCarron,ID

We start the day off in town at a great visitor center dedicated to the local Hagerman fossil beds
This is quite a special place if you are into fossils.  Their claim to fame is the Hagerman horse, the first true horse in America.   The actual fossil digs are not open to the public, but there are plenty on show in the visitor center.

Then up the hill we go to take a look at the view, including glimpses of the Oregon Trail (a really old stage coach route). We always marvel at determination of folks back the. Some of the routes they took were not exactly level. This picture shows it best.  Old tracks - exaggerated by time and weather, go straight up the hill (shortest route) Modern day power lines do the same.  The modern road takes a gentler, but longer route up the hill.

Look at all that water coming out of nowhere....

Not far down the road we bump into the town of Twin Falls. The river has carved a deep ravine here, but luckily man has thrown a big bridge across to help us travellers.

The base jumpers love it to.  They just throw themselves off, land at the bottom, climb up and do it all again. They a truly insane.  I get giddy just watching them.

Finally we get to the actual falls. Wot? NO water?   This is clearly not the best time to view these splendid falls (late spring is best for the obvious reason)   But we have fun  anyway. Thats just the sort of people we are.
